Things to Do
The Hotel is located on the main north south beach road known as Mandalay Ave. As you head south the name changes to GulfView Blvd. The “boardwalk” runs parallel with Gulfview Blvd. There are scores of restaurants and bars up and down the road. There are several well known restaurants within a short walking distance including Marina Cantina, Oceans Seven, Heilmans Beachcomber and Cabanas Coastal Grill. After Hour activity abounds at numerous bars mostly south of the hotel.
Consider coming early or staying after Showcase to get to know the Clearwater Beach area. Clearwater Beach is part of the city of Clearwater and the beach area is professionally run. They have life guard stations up and down the beach with plenty of dining options.
– Clearwater Marine Aquarium – This world class aquarium is a brief walk from the hotel and we are organizing a spouses event here, but you can visit on your own time as well. It is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick and injured marine animals, public education, conservation, and research.
– Bike rental – people love biking on the island.
– Walking/running – there is a cool Dock that is adjacent to the hotel known as Dock 60. While it was damaged in the 2023 hurricane it is open halfway down the pier. There is a “boardwalk” that extends a mile and a half south of the hotel and continues as a sidewalk all the way to Sand Key. It is 1.7 miles to the Sand Key bridge from the hotel and there is Sand Key Park across the bridge on Sand Key which could be a good stretching destination.
– Trip Advisor – Check out the opportunities for dolphin watching, jet ski and boat trips.
– Day fishing charters – several charter boats located .3 miles away from hotel. reserve early.
