Attendees will walk away with a proven roadmap to expand HDPE adoption in their own regions. This session is proudly sponsored by WL Plastics.

Th9   2:30 PM – 3:15 PM    Canals: Conversions & Diversions

This emerging market represents one of the most exciting opportunities in our industry—selling medium, large and XXL HDPE pipe into canal systems, a space that barely existed for us five years ago. Engineer Robert Toy PE had no prior HDPE experience when he took on the ambitious St. Johns Canal conversion in northern Arizona—a project led in partnership with the Alliance and Core & Main. His journey offers valuable lessons in adaptation, innovation, and overcoming legacy assumptions. Join us as we explore this transformative project and the expanding role of HDPE in canal conversions and water infrastructure upgrades.

Th10   2:30 PM – 3:15 PM    Debunking the Myth: Understanding “ID Matching”

This complex topic continues to challenge our industry, as competitors and many in the civil engineering community argue that the interior diameter (ID) of HDPE must match that of legacy or competing materials to maintain proper system flow. In short, they claim, “all IDs must match.” The Alliance has distilled this misconception into the simple term “ID Matching”—and in this focused 45-minute session, you’ll gain the technical clarity and practical tools needed to confidently counter this argument. Learn how to reframe the conversation, defend HDPE designs effectively, and advance the broader understanding of hydraulic equivalency.

Th11   4:00 PM – 5:15 PM    Going Big: The Strategy and Strength of L & XXL HDPE Pipe

This session dives into the many facets of 48″ and larger HDPE pipe, including branded products like Weholite and Snap-Tite. Special focus will be given to the strategic value of showcasing our capabilities in Big Pipe—because when the user community sees we can handle large diameters, it builds confidence in our solutions across the board, including smaller sizes. Attendees will learn how HDPE competes in canals, outfalls, large-diameter sewer, raw water, and transmission lines—segments where most competitors simply can’t match our scale. The session will cover unique features, competitive positioning, and compelling project case studies that highlight the power of going big.

Th12   4:00 PM – 5:15 PM    Redneck Engineering Competition

This has been a popular class for four years. Dan Landy has added a twist to this years session where groups of two or three people will present the craziest things they have seen happen on jobsites with particular emphasis on problem solving when things are not working quite right. The presenters will each get 5 – 8 minutes to present their issues and explain what happened and how they solved the problem. The winner receives and iPad.

Friday Sessions
Showcase Premier Day 2

F1   9:00 AM – 9:50 AM    Municipal Perspectives

New Jersey Engineer Richard Brand returns with fresh insights from his decade-long commitment to using HDPE pipe exclusively at the MUA he oversees. His experience offers valuable lessons in adaptation, training, rollout and long-term system performance. Now, with HDPE specified for a major new water treatment plant, Brand’s story continues to evolve. Joining him is an engineer from Fort Lauderdale, who—though newer to HDPE—has jumped in with both feet to help the City tackle the unique challenges of South Florida’s complex soils. Together, they’ll share practical, real-world perspectives from two ends of the HDPE adoption curve.

F3   10:00 AM – 10:50  International Opportunities – South and Central America
